Nervous? Excited?
Boudoir is so much fun! Here is some tips on getting ready
After you have booked your boudoir session there is no need to stress! All images are done in a private, comfortable atmosphere. Images are only released with your permission and if you prefer to keep them private, only the photographer and you will see them.
Do we provide lingerie?
We do not provide lingerie. This is purely for sanitary reasons. You purchase your own lingerie for your session. This also ensures that your images are unique and you feel beautiful and comfortable in your clothing.
Before your session we will go over the most cost effective places to purchase lingerie. As well, I will give you several tips of what to wear and we chat about set ideas you may have.
Tips to get ready for my session:
Do not wear tight clothing to your session as the clothing marks left on your skin will affect the overall look of the images and make editing a longer, harder process. It is best to wear loose fitting clothing with no bra to your session.
Hair removal is essential for a boudoir session. For shaving please shave the morning of your session, and follow by moisturizing so you don’t have an after shaving rash or dry skin. For waxing, it is best to wax two days before the session. Again please come to your session fully moisturized. Don’t forget to wax your eyebrows!
Dry lips are hard to edit and usually during a boudoir session you will want a makeup artist, this means lipstick! Lipstick will not apply smoothly on dry lips. So please start using lip balm religiously at least 48 hours before your session, especially in the dead of winter.
Tanning: Though it can be temping to tan before your session please do not tan within 48 hours of your session date. This will insure that your skin is not dry and it has time to relieve the redness that tanning causes. If you do choose to tan before the 48-hour time frame, please do so without tan lines. The 48-hour timeline also goes for in-shower cream or fake tanners. The last thing you want to do is show up with streaky or yellow skin, so please give your self some time between your session and your tanning routine to prevent these problems.
Healthy even skin: Look we’re human, and though we would all love to look as perfect as models (myself included), we’re not. So instead of trying to be someone you’re not, don’t stress over a few extra pounds. I like chocolate cake and I’m not afraid to eat it. And don’t stress over not having flawless perfect skin. Don’t be afraid to point out areas of your body that make you uncomfortable. If there is a part of your body that you would like specifically edited, it is not a problem! Boudoir sessions are all about making you feel your most beautiful.
A little extra confidence boost- I would suggest a makeup artist and hair stylist for all sessions. Whether you’re a model or not, no one is perfect. Makeup can make you feel like the best possible version of yourself. A makeup artist is $125 per session, and a Hair stylist is $125 per session. Please inform us while booking your session if you will require either of these services so we can book the artists time. Often, boudoir sessions are once in a lifetime; my best advice is to make the extra investment and enjoy the extra glamour.
The most important thing to remember when preparing for a boudoir session is to have fun. You will feel beautiful and I promise that you will love your final images, so why stress over a fun experience. We will direct your how to pose your body in the best way, so the only thing you have to worry about is what to wear!
